REPORTTHE TWENTY FOURTH MEETING OF THE ASEAN CENTRE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES (24th ACEDAC) BOARD15-16 May 2017, Vientiane, Lao PDR
The Twenty Fourth Meeting of the ASEAN Centre for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives (ACEDAC) Board was held on 15-16 May 2017 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The Meeting was attended by representatives from governments and agricultural cooperatives of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam and the ASEAN Secretariat. Representatives from the ASEAN Foundation, the Project Coordinator of the CB Project 2 and the ACEDAC Secretariat were also present. The list of delegates appears as
OPENING SESSION Mr Xaypladeth Choulamany, Director General, Department of Planning and Cooperation, Ministry Agriculture and Forestry, in his capacity as SOM-AMAF Leader of Lao PDR warmly welcomed all Delegates to Vientiane and to the Meeting. He highlighted the importance of addressing food security and nutrition, enhance agriculture commercialization and the need to tackle the adverse impact of climate change. In addressing the challenges, he viewed that policy development support of the agriculture cooperative and capacity buidling is important to ensure its contribution to the people. He informed that Lao PDR has improved the Prime Minister Decree on Cooperative which will facilitate the agriculture cooperative and farmers organization development in the country.
